Register to Vote in Florida

In Florida, you must register at least 29 days before an election to be able to vote. You can register to vote either in person or by mail.

You will need to mail or take a completed Florida Voter Registration Application to your county Supervisor of Elections.

If it is your first time registering, you will need to provide proof of your identity. See the application form for acceptable documents.

NOTE: If you will be out of state on the day of an election, you can register as an absentee voter, or cast an early vote.

FL Military & Overseas Voter Registration

If you’re an active-duty member of the U.S. military, a merchant marine, or U.S. citizen residing overseas, you can also register to vote through the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

Just submit a completed Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to your local Florida election office.

You can use the FPCA to request absentee ballots while you are out of state.

Deadline to Register to Vote in Florida

In Florida, you must be registered to vote at least 29 days before an election to be able to vote.

  • Date of birth.

Change Your Name, Address, or Party

If you’ve move to a different Florida county, or need to change your name or party affiliation, you must re-submit a completed Florida Voter Registration Application to your county Supervisor of Elections.

If the information on your application is not true, you can be convicted of a felony and fined up to $5, 000 and/or be imprisoned for up to 5 years.
